Image Compressor

Shrink JPG, PNG and WebP files without uploading them. Drop several in at once, set the quality, and take the results.

Everything runs in your browser. Your images are never uploaded, and nothing is stored.

How to use it

Drop one or more images onto the box, or tap it to pick them from your device. Quality controls how much detail is thrown away. 75 is a good starting point and usually looks identical to the original at a fraction of the size. Drop to 50 for images that will only ever be seen on a phone. Max width resizes before compressing, which saves far more than quality alone. A 4000px photo shown in a 1200px column is wasting three quarters of its file size. WebP is the smallest and works everywhere now. Use JPEG only if something in your workflow refuses WebP, and PNG only when you need a transparent background. The result updates as you move the sliders, so you can see the saving before you download.

Questions

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. The compression happens inside your browser using a canvas. The files never leave your device, which is also why it works with no sign-up and no limits.

How much can I expect to save?

An AI-generated PNG at default settings usually drops by 85 to 95 percent converting to WebP. Photos from a phone typically halve. The number next to each result shows the exact saving.

Why does PNG barely get smaller?

PNG is lossless, so the quality slider does almost nothing to it. If you need a big saving, switch the output to WebP, which supports transparency too.

Is there a file size or count limit?

No limit is set, but everything is held in memory. Very large batches on a phone may run out of memory, so work in groups of ten or so if that happens.
