Video Frame Extractor
Pull a still image out of a video at any point. Useful for thumbnails and featured images. Nothing is uploaded.
Everything runs in your browser. Your video is never uploaded, and nothing is stored.
How to use it
Drop a video onto the box, or tap it to pick one. Drag the slider to the moment you want. Play and pause to find it roughly, then use Back and Forward to step a single frame at a time until the shot is right. Save this frame gives you a PNG at the video's full resolution, so a 1080p clip gives a 1920 by 1080 image with nothing thrown away. Grab as many frames as you like. They collect underneath and each one is a link, so tap or click it to download. This one needs no engine download and works instantly, since the browser is already decoding the video to show it to you.
Questions
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. The frame is taken from the video your browser is already playing and drawn onto a canvas. Nothing leaves your device.
What resolution do I get?
Exactly what the video is. A 1080p clip gives a 1920 by 1080 PNG, a 4K clip gives 3840 by 2160.
Why is this one instant when the other video tools are slow?
The browser is already decoding the video to show it on screen, so grabbing one frame is nearly free. The other tools have to re-encode every frame in the file.
Can I get a smaller file?
The output is PNG so the frame is exact. Run it through the image compressor afterwards if you need something smaller.
How do I land on an exact frame?
Pause first, then use Back and Forward. Each press moves one frame, so you can walk to the shot you want.
