Video Reverser

Play a clip backwards, with the audio reversed or dropped. Runs in your browser, nothing is uploaded.

Everything runs in your browser. Your video is never uploaded, and nothing is stored.

How to use it

Drop a video onto the box, or tap it to pick one. Reverse it keeps the sound and plays it backwards too, which is the strange warped effect people usually want. Remove it drops the audio entirely, which is right when the clip is going under music anyway. Keep the clip short. Reversing works by holding every frame at once and writing them out in the opposite order, so memory fills up fast. Ten seconds is comfortable, thirty is pushing it, and a long clip will simply run out and fail. Cut the video down first if it is long, then reverse the part you need.

Questions

Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. The whole thing runs inside your browser using a WebAssembly build of ffmpeg. The file never leaves your device, which is why there is no sign-up.

Why does it fail on longer clips?

Reversing needs every frame held at once before the first one can be written. A few seconds fits comfortably, a few minutes does not, and the browser runs out of memory.

Should I reverse the audio too?

Reverse it if the backwards sound is the point, which is usually the case for the effect. Remove it if the clip is going under a music track, since backwards audio under music just sounds like noise.

Does it lose quality?

A little. Every frame is re-encoded, which always costs something, though at these settings it is hard to see.

Can I reverse only part of a video?

Not here. Trim the section you want somewhere else first, then run that piece through this.
