Video Rotator
Turn a video upright, or tilt it to any angle. Drag to move, pinch to zoom and twist to rotate, then download. Nothing is uploaded.
Everything runs in your browser. Your video is never uploaded, and nothing is stored.
How to use it
Drop a video onto the box, or tap it to pick one. It starts playing straight away so you can see what you are doing. 90 left and 90 right are what you want if a phone recorded the clip sideways. Those are clean turns with no loss. The slider and the two finger twist go to any angle in between, for footage that is slightly off level. Off angles leave gaps at the corners, so those fill with a blurred copy of the footage. Drag to move the frame and pinch or scroll to zoom. Pick a ratio if you also want to change the shape. Every frame has to be re-encoded, so this takes real time. The bar shows how far through it is.
Questions
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. The rotating happens inside your browser using a WebAssembly build of ffmpeg. The file never leaves your device, which is why there is no size limit and no sign-up.
My phone recorded it sideways, what do I use?
90 left or 90 right, whichever way it needs to go. Those are exact quarter turns, so the picture stays sharp and nothing is cut away.
Why do the corners go blurry at odd angles?
A tilted rectangle cannot fill an upright frame, so there are always gaps at the corners. Those are filled with a blurred copy of the footage rather than left black.
Does it lose quality?
Quarter turns lose nothing worth noticing. Any other angle has to redraw every pixel, so there is a small softening, though at these settings it is hard to see.
Is the audio affected?
No. The audio track is copied across untouched, so it stays exactly as it was.
